This page is dedicated to the love of my life and my BFF, Bryan Barrett. We met in May of 1997 in a two week intercession philosophy class at Middle Tennessee State University. I was 23. I had been really praying for about a year to meet my "someone special". As soon as I met him, I knew I'd spend the rest of my life with. He, however, had different plans ~ and they didn't include me! He wanted a wife and family; just not with me. He saw me as "pal". So, we became "best friends" for a year. I would pray and cry myself to sleep every night. Looking back, I'm so glad that we had that extra year to bond, get to know each other and become friends - Romantic love is great, but if you're friends you can survive anything!
I was thinking today about how blessed I am for my Barrett!!! He was telling our Sunday School class the story of how we met. We got to adding it up and it was 15 years ago this past May! AMAZING! Barrett is a truly a one in a million type of guy. God certainly broke the mold after he made him! We were watching the SECRET MILLIONAIRE tonight and one of the organizations featured tonight was a place called "Team Ablify" in San Atonio, Texas. They help families who have disabled children and one of the mothers were explaining how it takes very special people to be parent of disabled children. Sometimes I don't show Barrett enough love and appreciation! This man must truly love me for who I am. It's one thing to raise up a disabled child - it's truly another to profess your love and marry a physically - and sometimes mentally - disabled woman. They say marriage is suppose to be 50/50, but Barrett gives me a ton more than I can ever give him. THANK YOU GOD FOR SUCH A GREAT HUSBAND
